Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2015

Here is the schedule for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2015 in Saskatoon. There are services scheduled around the world on these days, using the theme materials prepared by the churches in Brazil based on John 4:7 - "Jesus said to her: 'Give me a drink.' " The encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman invites us to try water from a different well and also to offer a little water of our own. In diversity, we enrich each other. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a privileged moment for prayer, encounter and dialogue. It is an opportunity to recognize the richness and value present in the other, and to ask God for the gift of unity.

The biblical gesture of offering water to a guest (Matthew 10:42) as a way of welcoming and sharing is something that is repeated in all regions of Brazil. Refreshing glasses of water, chimarrão, coffee and tereré are trademarks of acceptance, dialogue and coexistence. The proposed study and meditation on this text during the Week of Prayer is to help people and communities to realize the dialogical dimension of the project of Jesus, which we call the Kingdom of God.

In conjunction with the Week of Prayer in Saskatoon, the annual De Margerie Series of lectures and workshops will present Dr. Karen B. Westerfield Tucker, professor of theology at Boston University. The De Margerie Series on Christian Reconciliation and Unity is offered by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, St. Thomas More College, and the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism.
